Hovering above this Kerkennah sunset is my interpretation of a traditional Tunisian Sahel region design. My late grandmother-in-law was always seen wearing her scarf which showcased the design. This piece is thusly named for her. This mixed media piece on paper almost feels as if one is looking through a window onto the sunset on the island's shore. Closer study reveals symbols throughout. Boat anchors, hats made from palm tree leaves, pins, and octopi make up the patterns that move your eye throughout the piece.
