Mamatee's Sunset
This piece expresses a mix of memories of significance as viewed in my mind’s eye. The screen I am visualizing above this Kerkennah islands' sunset is my interpretation of a traditional Tunisian Sahel region design. My late grandmother-in-law was always seen wearing her scarf which showcased the design. This piece is thusly named for her. Boat anchors, hats made from palm tree leaves, jewelry pins, and octopuses make up the patterns that move your eye throughout the piece.
