Tribute to Heart's Wanderings Series
This "Tribute to Heart's Wanderings Series," honors my artistic journey to listen to my heart to seek out the meaning of home; how homes pass cultures, the physical world, and lead to the spiritual home. Within these mixed media pieces, I create patterns and repetition through the use of Tunisian Mediterranean motifs and symbols. A study of the mesmerizing complexity results in revealing the natural and man-made symbols I weave throughout. My process is often tedious as I work to cut paper templates with scissors, tracing and laying out my patterns and adding details as I go. The scenes and symbols I chose are directly related to my experiences and memories which keep me connected and bring me peace. My hope is that those viewing my art will accept my invitation to take a journey through my work. Spend some time. Perhaps even question the meaning of home for them.
My Original Home
Whenever I am pursuing my art, in the back of mind, I have a question. What makes a home? As the years have gone by I have come to realize that there is no specific appearance and it most certainly does not equate to a house. I am most at home when on the journey to find solace and connection. My work is more about the feeling which is evoked in the making and viewing. Journeys take time. Therefore my work demands that you spend time to truly see it.
